Manning Pot

Drove down to the Gold Coast last night to purchase a Glen Manning Teapot. Glen is an old Bundaberg boy whose family was also involved in the baking industry. Glen grew up in the bakery and after school each day would collect scraps of pastry and mould up little animals... when he hit high school, he discovered clay and life changed for him forever. I've been fortunate enough to go to a few of Glen's exhibitions - varying from traditional and experimental pottery and including sculptural pieces based on scarab beetles and angels, and along the way picked up some of his flawless clay pieces.

Years ago I missed the opportunity to pick up one of his functional and beautiful teapots but this week (thanks to eBay) I was at last able to rectify that oversight - at a very competitive price.... so it made sense to show the pot to you and say to keep your eye out for other Manning pots. He hasn't fired up his kiln for a year or two now, as he's concentrating on larger sculptures and installation pieces, so Glen Manning pots are fast becoming rarities.

Burn brightly, Pete.
