Dutch Treat

I've found some time to read again this weekend and the Lifeline book sale on today was a good impetus and catalyst for beginning to hit the books again. Schacter's book on memory has not been forgotten, but I picked up Elmore Leonard's Cuba Libre today and am now about 20 pages into it.

Elmore "Dutch" Leonard has long been a favourtie with their great sense of humour, gritty situations and dialogue that is always authentic and surprising. Earlier this year I had finished of Tishimingo Blues and Mr Paradiso and whenever I read one of his I have trouble believing I'm reading something written by a guy who's nearly 90. Get Shorty, Jackie Brown, the sexy Out of Sight, Mr Majestyk, Hombre, 3.10 to Yuma and Bad Day at Black Rock were all from the mind of the great Elmore Leonard. If you haven't read Leonard yet, take Stephen King's advice and go buy a copy.

Burn brightly, Pete
