Doris Salcedo: Istanbul Project

I was working with Year 9 students in the school library yesterday where they are undertaking research into artist's works & lives. One young lady had been given the task of researching Columbian sculptor Doris Salcedo who is known internationally for her installations and social commentary:

"Sir, I've looked everywhere but I can't find when Doris Salcedo died?"
     "That's because she's still living. She hasn't died yet."
"But she was born in 1958! Surely she's dead by now!"
(Doris Salcedo is two years younger than me.)
