Painted Ladies

With the demise of the Polaroid camera, an art form also came to end. Painted Ladies is a series of physically manipulated polaroid images by self-taught artist Barbara Cole. Initially inspired by a large Lucien Freud painting, Cole eventually worked as a fashion design editor. Her works on SX-70 Polaroid film are achieved by heating and rubbing the initial photographs to physically push the chemicals around to achieve these stunning results:

Mary-Eve

Without Pretense
Salted Ruins
Twisted Fate
Burn brightly, Pete
