Hey Presto!

I'm often raving on about David Preston and his ability with linocuts, so it seemed very obvious to put some of his work up so you can see what I'm talking about. Preston's work can be difficult to find online, so here are a few showing his graphic ability and wonderful hand colouring.

Honeymoon Moon

Have spent the morning at the framers today (don't ask and I won't whinge) and have returned with David Preston's print I purchased a fortnight ago in Berry. Known for his delicate linocuts of nudes and flowers, Preston has also created linocuts for Brett Whiteley, John Olsen and Julie Cassab and his works are internationally recognised. Entitled "Honeymoon Moon", this linocut is a great example of Preston's skill with the process and is hand coloured with water colours. I'm  pleased with the faming and the cream matt and black edged frame works particularly well.

Docs for the Doc

My new Dr Martens arrived today and they seemed highly appropriate for my visit to the dermatologist given my viral rash. (Yes folks - that's spotted cow hide!) She has assured me I have an unspecific virus, possibly contracted from artist David Preston, during my recent visit to NSW. So, back to work on Monday - blemish free and healthy - and a lot less blogging next week.

Berry Enjoyable

So I'm in NSW outside of Berry on acreage enjoying fine wine and food with friends. I've managed to eat pizza from a woodfired oven, talked with printmaker David Preston, driven a boat up the Shoalhaven River to Arthur Boyd's property, eaten fresh oysters , trekked through the bush and help fix up a water pump to bring water from a nearby waterfall. Last night we drank red wine, watched "The Happening" (until it became unbearable), drank bourbon and slept deeply. So life is good!
