All Clear

Joseph Conrad - (1857-1924)
My recent trip to the dermatologist means I've now been given the go ahead to get back to work. I'd contracted a non-specific virus (that which cannot be named easily) which mean an extra week's 'holiday' as I recuperated. Hence the abundance of blogs over the past week or two. So don't expect this output to continue. This weekend I seriously have to catch up on some writing (see The Great Writing Challenge).

Still, there is something valuable about the process of work. I spoke to a friend about work as a process of redemption and I think Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim, Heart of Darkness (Apocalypse Now if you're under 35) said it far better than I ever could -

"I don't like work – no man ever does – but I like what is in work – the chance to find yourself. Your own reality – for yourself, not for others – what no man can ever know."

Blind Man Quits Due to Rash Decision

Two of the six blinds I had hoped to install over the last two weeks, but due to weather and a slight medical condition....

...I've had to delay installation. (Note the distinct lack of ankle in the above shot) So expect a few more reviews over the next few days as I recuperate, and catch up on reading - detective novels, ethics, art etc.

For Lovers of the Rash...

...an impetuous move I know to place a medically-related shot on here, but if I've got nudes, copyright infringement and the story of my life, so it seemed to be the next logical step in the process.

This is a photograph of my left leg as of yesterday evening - the right leg is far worse, although my arms and neck have settled a little today. Blood tests this morning for confirmation of Ross River Fever (we hope) and possibly a visit to the dermatologists this afternoon. (See, I told you this blog was getting too confessional). Apologies for the medical mayhem and the disappearing posts.

Not quite gone....

So I'm still here hanging on by a thread... On my recent trip south I managed a very nasty scrape whilst boarding a boat, peeling back several centimetres of skin which subsequently became infected (or so I thought). Over the last few days, the inflamed abrasion has enlarged with a nasty rash developing. After a trip to the surgery at the top of my street, my doctor thinks I may have contracted Ross River fever - explaining rash, malaise, joint pain and depression - all symptoms. So now the waiting game begins and I'll have to get blood tests etc. In the meantime, I'm reading and watching - Tron Legacy, Moliere, and The Town. Whew! So I do need to retire now for a day or two and focus on marking and a day trip with my daughter tomorrow.
